Born and raised in the lovely, flat farm land of western Michigan, Benjamin moved with his parents and three brothers, to the picturesque and rolling Green Mountain state of Vermont in 2001.
Benjamin is self-taught, and has been encouraged by his family and friends to pursue his God-given ability. At the age of twelve he received his first commission as an illustrator. Within a year, he began familiarizing himself with acrylics.
Ben’s style and composition reflects his appreciation for the work of American Folk Artists of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. He also enjoys painting realism. Ben has painted with oils, but acrylic on canvas has been his primary medium for several years. A love for nature, farm life, and God’s creation inspires all of his work, and challenges him to “mirror the Master” in every piece.
When not at the easel, Ben enjoys music, movie making, photography, drama, woodworking, and his Bernese Mountain dog, “Barrett”, .
Benjamin’s original art, limited & open edition giclee prints, and note cards may be seen and purchased at the Brandon Artist’s Guild in Brandon, Vermont, or at his studio in Cornwall, Vermont.
